Honey-colored amber in the glass.
In the nose fruity sweet. Oranges, tangerines, grapefruit and a little moss are in the foreground, toasted wood and a little caramel can also be discerned.
Interesting and captivating on the palate. Candied fruit, caramel, vanilla, lemon zest and subtle wood tones round things out.
The finish is somewhat tangy with caramel notes and a pleasant memory of chocolate remains.
A quite quaffable rum with which I would have liked to discuss a little longer. For beginners, explorers and connoisseurs. 7+

This is a 40% ABV blend of rums from El Salvador that have been aged for 15 years in American oak bourbon barrels and then 1 year in Mayan ceiba barrels. This is the first Cihuatán rum to be marked as XO (extra old) label. Xaman was the Mayan god of wisdom.
Bottle: Luxurious, conical, supplied in beautiful blue cardboard with Mayan paintings. This is a really nice presentation.
Color: Dark amber.
Nose: Pleasant, sweet, without any spicy alcohol. There is vanilla, fruits (banana, pineapple, citrus), raisins, cocoa, sweet grapes, spices (cloves, nutmeg, pepper) and a strange wood smell (apparently it is the ceiba tree).
Mouth: Excellent, already slightly burning on the palate. It's also already more woody and less sweet. In the aftertaste, I could smell vanilla, banana, pineapple, spices, plum jam and, again, more pronounced wood. I also felt a slight smokiness when tasting it.
Aftertaste: Medium to long.
Finish: A really good and smooth rum with a slight sweetness and a more pronounced woodiness. Although the profile could be more varied, I definitely recommend the rum.
Rating: 9/10
Mit vielen verschiedenen und dennoch Harmonischen Aromen vereint.
Von Floral und Fruchtig bis Eiche und etwas Teer.
Duft af lakrids og fad. En smule syrlig. Smagen er blød men alligevel skarp. En smule bitter. Røg. (23. december 2021 i 1423).
Had just a sample of this 16yo rum containing rums aged for 15 years in American oak ex-Bourbon casks, and finished for one year in Mayan Ceiba casks.
In nose, via mouth, palate and during the medium long finish it’s fruity and I recognize some vanilla, pistachio and hints of smoke.
Overall a smooth and pleasant Latino rum.
Picture: My emptied sample poured in a glass.
Smooth and flavorful. I recommend to limit dilution, else the flavor wanes.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

aged for 15 years in American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels, finished for 1 year in
mayan ceiba barrels.
Aroma is heavier and complex. Taste is very well ballanced. Sweet but not too much with leather, honey, pineapple and plums. Aftertaste is longer with clove and smoked bacon on palate.
Try it if you will have chance, but full bottle buy only in discount. For the price (100eur in Czech Republic) you can find much better rums.
