Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

On the rocks it's okay, and it's definitely better with some coke. It's a well balanced good tasting rum, and I'd buy it again. Solid but not my favorite.
Very smooth drink with a hint of spiciness. I only really got into a few years ago and haven't had the joy of finding some of the better rums out there. This one was tasty and ended up an empty bottle after around 40-50 mins. Would drink it again. Went well with Cherry coke
Either for mixing rum’n’coke or “later in the evening”, when tast do not need to be sweet
alright that.
Nice and dark.
A bit treacle and you can taste it in the morning
As tasty as Dead Man's finger, has a different strong punch to it. Could drink it straight or with ice.
I had low expectations on this but was pleasantly surprised! It’s not amazing but there are many worse examples. The nose is full of sweet vanilla - it reminds me that way of CaptainMorgan Private Stock. Nothing terribly layered or nuanced, that’s for sure. On the palate, it’s sweet, with plenty of spice, and a strong, powdered hot chocolate note. There is also a hot burn of alcohol. It’s not a complex sipping rum but would be great with a Coke or in eggnog.
Very sweet, lot of sugar added, more like liquor than rum.
Ron especiado ideal para degustar solo o combinado con ginger beer o ginger ale
Personally, not my cup of.. alcohol. But I can see the appeal, it is unique, spicy and strong. Being used to smooth and mild tastes like, for example Brugal, or Mount Gay, this was too much. But I would certainly recommend trying this!
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Good one to drink on the rocks or to mix. I prefer to do it on the rocks
