Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV
Angostura 1919 rum is produced in Trinidad by blending a combination of light and heavy molasses distilled rums. These rums spend at least 8 years aging in American oak bourbon barrels.
The name Angostura "1919" refers to the event in 1932 when Angostura's distillery was destroyed by fire. Miraculously, a handful of barrels filled with rum from 1919 survived and were purchased by J.B. Fernandes - the master blender of Fernandes Distillers.

This rum is an excellent multi-purpose aged rum with a light but complex taste profile. Provides a delicate and just-sweet-enough taste for sipping but also makes an excellent dry mojito. No heavy afterburn when taken neat or on the rocks, where it is excellent with a squeeze of key lime. The price is moderate considering the quality. This is the only rum I've found that approaches some of the qualities of the now-discontinued-in-the-USA Oronoco (a cane rum), which was my go-to rum for several years until the distributor pulled it in this country. Though 1919 is created from fermented molasses, it avoids the heavy, cloying molasses tastes of most dark rums as well as the napthalene qualities of most white rums. Plus the bottle is beautiful on a shelf!
This is different from all the other rums I've had. A very distinct woody taste, oak I guess. Am enjoying on the rock watching the sun set in sw Tex. Will keep a bottle stocked.
This is a sipper you can sit and enjoy with other rum drinkers. Pull the cork out with your teeth like a pirate and pass it around. Easy sipper. Also versatile I'm sure this one would mix easy as well.
Avec ce rhum, on commence à avoir ce que l'on recherche dans les spiritueux : une palette aromatique élargie, de la puissance en attaque, de la rondeur en bouche et une longueur en fin qui commence à durer. A découvrir
Has a fresher taste than most, distinctive as most good runs are.
A very solid rum for beginners like myself. Not too expensive and a good sweet after taste.
Très doux et agréable en bouche, épicé et fruité à la fois, se boit sec.
O surpriza placuta, fin, aromat(vanilie, piersica etc). Un rom "de vara". Recomand "on the rocks" sau ceva mixuri mai speciale.
Angostura one of my favourite.
As soon the kork is off , that beautiful sweet hits of vanilla and tropical fruit .
As well the taste. Pact whit sweetness more then medium in my opinion. Caramel vanilla tropical fruit and honey all in all were neat and Sweet rum. A must in your collection

There is a little “oak and smoke” and a very small scent of fruit.
"The rum is very smooth with notes of oak, cocoa and vanilla. Perhaps a little banana but very subtle."

A little too strong of alcohol smell and too much after burn for me. There are a lot of rums that are better and a lot cheaper. Good but not worth the price.
