Kaniche XO rum is produced in Barbados where it is first aged in bourbon casks. It is one of the few rums that is then double aged for a more mellow finished in Pierre Ferrand ex cognac casks at their location in France.

I really love this stuff! Super balanced, not a lot of the bright flavors you get from a less-aged rum. Lots of vanilla from the barrel aging.
Tasted during Rogue Rum Club, thanks to the Cains travels November 18 2023
Appearance: dark amber
Aroma: plum pudding
Flavor: tobacco, pound cake, vanilla, butterscotch
This might be a dessert rum, with a lasting sweetness that has a depth of flavor.
Great for sipping or mixing an Old Fashioned. Too bad I can't purchase this in my home state of PA!
When I first opened the bottle it seemed to taste a bit thin, but then after it was open for a few weeks its flavor seemed to get less thin, and I liked it better. It has the typical Spanish solera flavor profile like Zacapa 23, etc. but for $35 its an excellent value. The staff at Total Wine strongly recommend this rum, and I can't say they're wrong, but I probably won't buy it again. Its good, but not great, and I've become bored with this particular flavor profile for the time being. I'd like to give it a 7.5 rating, but given that I have to choose between 7 and 8 I'd have to go with the 7 for now.
The distiller is known for not being completely forthcoming with their rums and their age statements and added sugar. However, I found this one not too bad for drinking neat and pretty decent as a mixer.
I agree with another reviewer who compares this with Plantation...it's similar to their Grande Reserve 5yr with a bit more depth. To me that's not a bad thing and although it's a bit sweet, I don't consider it a "sugar bomb." It's a flavorful Barbados rum, not exceptional but quite drinkable. However at $57 out the door for 750ml, I'll be sticking with Doorly's XO for now.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Similar to Plantation XO but more sweet and less complex. Aftertaste is short and sugar cover most of taste... But price is low.
