Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (5+)
Zaya Gran Reserva Rum is a blend of molasses-based rums distilled in a five-column still and aged in white oak barrels for up to 12 years.
Zaya rum was initially distilled by Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala in Guatemala. The brand was acquired in 2008 by Infinium Spirits and is now produced in Trinidad and distilled by Angostura.

This is a blended rum of undisclosed names and ages. It tends very sweet and syrupy. It is flavorful and very inexpensive for a sipping rum. For the price, Zaya is well worth it.
Zaya was my one of introductions to dark, aged sippers. For a while it was my favorite, but as my pallet becomes more refined, I now find it too sweet for my taste. It is still my hands down favorite for a rum and coke though. On the nose, this rum is delightful. Warm caramel with chocolate and vanilla hints. Taste is pretty much the same. I am certainly aware of the added sugar, and they may be doctoring it with some artificial flavors. Regardless, the end product is very tasty and enjoyable, but you can't help but feel Zaya is not the most honest distiller, and that takes away from the experience. They have recently changed their label from a "a blend of 12 year old rums", to "a blend of 12 aged rums". The previous probably wasn't the truth, and the new one is rather vague. I'll still buy Zaya now and then for rum and cokes, but for sipping there are just far too many better rums. But if you like it sweet, and don't mind that they use sugar and maybe flavorings to get the end product, I would recommend it.
Great aroma and flavor. There are better out there but for rhe price you can't beat it. Always have a couple bottles on hand because it doesn't last long once people try it.
Pentru cei care apreciază aroma vaniliei dar și un aftertaste lung și deosebit, Zaya Gran Reserva este o alegere reușită oricând. Doar "on the rocks"
Dark golden color. On the sweet side. Vanilla scented. Nice legs. Easy to sip
I like it. It tastes between Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva and Zacapa 23y for me.
I have found this rum in many place throughout Canada. But the best price I have found is at Costco, though it does vary in price from $48.00-$50.00.
Great dark color, smooth, sweet, lots of caramel and vanilla. Goes great with cigars and could drink this every day at this price point.
Recommend this one to anyone and
for the price its worth it!

Zaya is nice rum for sweet tooth folks. Interesting sweet chocolate smell. Strong caramel and decent chocolate taste, mollase hints with hits of vanilla and lime. I personally recommend this as ladies rum. Very rich (but sweet taste) for him and lovely caramel taste for her. This is birthday cake of rums.
