...but not great. I do understand a lot of people like this sweet toffee, but it's lacking depth and originality. Down the palate it even seems like one can taste the dilution with water, an artificial taste of vanilla and much too much sugar which must have been added afterwards and burns your esophagus. I'm not a Zacapa fan either but I'd prefer it to this one and know now why the two rums have the same supporters - candy lovers! Still you can sip it and offer it to your sweet tooth guests after dinner as dessert or pour it over the ice cream or hot wafers. Not at all worth the 50 EUR and more you have to pay in Europe. Will never buy it again!
Smooth with hints of vanilla and caramel. A great sipping rum with not an enormous price tag. I think a solid go to rum. Perfect over whiskey stones
..because on one hand I can't deny that Zaya has a very nice nose of vanilla and caramel and goes down very easy and smooth. But then on the other hand I'm not a fan of how much they pumped up the artificial flavoring and added sugar. Don't get me wrong, I'm not that guy who thinks all and every rum needs to stand on it's own with only the barrel adding flavor but there is a point with you start to think that maybe this is too much and unfortunately Zaya might be that one for me. With all that said, I still can't deny that I do enjoy drinking this for a dessert rum.
Pretty expensive for a bottle of rum, I would say captains spiced is better
At first taste is was far better than bottom shelf. After trying others over the years I've realized it's not really aged and its sweetness is necessary.
I really can't tell you folks much about this rum except for the fact that my well stocked liquor cabinet best have at least one unopened bottle from the last visit of my young son's wife or I catch he'll. I am a Scotch man myself and only keep it stocked for her visits. She likes it neat and at room temperature. If I was a brave man I would crack that new bottle and see what I'm missing. Steve
Good sweet sipping rum, and great for the price. Crazy heavy bottle to
