Barcelo Imperial rum is produced in the Dominican Republic using column stills before aged in white oak casks for up to 10 years.
Ron Barcelo was founded in 1929 by Spanish entrepreneur Julian Barcelo in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The brand was sold mainly in the Caribbean and North America until a much broader international expansion began in 1992.

This rum is very genteel on nose. I can sent oak an a bit of vanilla. The taste is surprisingly bitter and spicy. You can feel oak and some “chili”. The aftertaste is long and spicy and for me this is the best part of this rum!
Heerlijke rum voor de prijs. Mooie geur en gebalanceerde smaken.
very nice bottle design, the smell is a little harsh but the taste is ok for me, not high class but ok. tastes very honest, not too sweet. i also like for a cuba libre.
Sweet rum, nice nose, but not that smooth. Felt it on my throat.
I remember receiving a bottle for Christmas, and I remember managing to hide the disappointment from the first tasting - I even managed to fake a smile and saying something noncommittal as "That's nice".
And nice rum it is - weak, underproof (not eligible of being sold as "rum" in the EU, since it's bottled at 38 percent ABV), column still distillate aged in tired barrels that passed on just a bit of residual bitterness. To counter that, the blender was generous with sugar, creating a perfect rum for people who don't really like rum... or alcohol, so they don't have to taste it while drinking it.
You guessed right - I am not a fan, but perhaps you might be. I would give it 5/10 if it was full 40 percent ABV (I perceive underproof strength as flaw, since all the aromatics are diluted in alcohol and with weak booze, you are getting very little bang for your buck).
Smooth semi sweet rum but not as complex as one would want for the price.
Not special for me. Oke for just an evening, but a special one.
For the price oke to mix.
Celkem příjemně pitelný rum, není ani moc sladký ani suchý.
"ends with a carrot cake ice cream taste"

The nose is light and gentle.
"It’s quite nicely balanced but just a little bit too nice."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It is not good neither is bad. Just middle way. It is not strong -> more smoothier. You can find quite wood tones.
Sweetness -> 4.5/10
Strength -> 3/10
