This rum showcases a stunning hue and welcomes you with a velvety, inviting aroma. A subtle, gentle warmth accentuates its supreme quality, highlighting its richness. With every sip, this absolute top-tier rum reveals its latent strength and depth, offering a truly aromatic experience. Encased in an elegantly crafted bottle that mirrors its lavishness, it exudes sophistication. The taste is a delightful blend of smoothness and sweetness, leaving a lingering warmth. Very prominent notes of caramel, along with butterscotch, vanilla and oak offers a seamless drinkability.
The packaging and bottle lives and breathes quality. I absolutely love the heavy weight of the elegantly engineered cork-powered metal stopper. Admittedly, this doesnโt affect the actual taste of the rum in a blind tasting โ but it does positively affect the overall experience of bringing out this bottle to indulge.
In summary, this rum is absolute world class. This evening I paired it with a Trinidad Media Luna Cuban cigar, an Oktoberfest bier chaser, candlelight and serenity.
Sugar: Estimated at 20-25 GPL.
This 40th anniversary edition comes in a collector edition box. The bottle is a classic design with a heavy metal top. Worth keeping the bottle out on display. The presentation is excellent, but the contents are excellent. The color is a chestnut brown. Darker than the 30th Anniversary edition. At 43% you get just a slight burn. It's smooth and sweet with a long lasting glow. Caramel, Butterscotch, Vanilla, Oak, and just a hint of nutmeg or a similar baking spice? Smooth drinking and it's hard to stop at just one. I am keeping this for special occasions, or whenever a rum drinking friend comes over. I am giving it a 9.5 but will have to round downwards to just a 9. I might bump this up after a few more tastings. Overall this is the best rum produced by Barcelo.
Equipment: a very nice bottle, and a fantastic color of the rum

A complex, delicate and dark tasting rum. Simply elegant and amazing!
The complexity and quality of this rum is closer to a 10 than a 9, regarding the taste we all are different, but if you never tried a darker rum before this is the one to try!
Personal score: 9-9.5
A must buy!
A wonderfully balanced rum with just the perfect amount of slight burn. Light amber colored with taste of carmel. A rare rum to enjoy!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

One very good bourbon like rum with notes of cola, dark chocolate, mocha, coal, raisins, cranberries, cherries, cinnamon, chili, Demarara syrup, jasmine, coconut, grassy sugarcane, and tobacco.
