Barcelo Imperial rum is produced in the Dominican Republic using column stills before aged in white oak casks for up to 10 years.
Ron Barcelo was founded in 1929 by Spanish entrepreneur Julian Barcelo in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The brand was sold mainly in the Caribbean and North America until a much broader international expansion began in 1992.

Nice to sipp, much better than the cheaper ones, and a really nice bottle π
The bottle looks quite luxurious, but rum is a little bit worse. But it is fine, for the reasonable price about 25 EUR.
This rum is good. I have the original bottles when it first came out. I have a case of about 8 bottles left. It good and not to sweet with a bit of bite on your throat
This Barcelo Imperial is nice in the nose with sweet notes of caramel, chocolate, banana and coconut. Sweet in the mouth with the full coconut taste.
Smooth with nice flavors of brown sugar, toffee, and oak.

A wonderful smooth rum, with a great nose that just slides down
Beautiful color a little harsh on the tongue at first but settles in nicely
Taste is alright, but too strong for my taste... Enjoyed better before...

Upon opening the bottle for the first time I poured a shot glass, started on it straight away and it kicked me in the nuts. I let it rest for a while, added some ice and it calmed down, slightly. I'm not a fan of overly sweet rums but this begs for some coke. Really nice bottle, quality rum. 5/10 for sipping, 7/10 in a mix.
