Ron Zacapa XO Rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala where it is distillled from fresh cane juice. The rum is then aged from 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 62 °F (17 °C) using the solera process. The solera aging process incorporates barrels that previously held American whiskeys, sherries, wines and Cognac
The unique Ron Zacapa XO glass decantur features an impression of a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle

Very smooth tasting rum, just not really anything that made it stand out exceptionally. Not sure it’s quite worth the cost.
One of the rums that I do not typically offer to ladies visitors. Strong oak, coffee, tobacco. But compared to Zacapa 23 Solera, the nose is really smooth. Perhaps one of the best rums I have tasted.
I can appreciate this. This rum is produced with love. The color is the deepest most elegant hue I've ever seen on a rum, its looks like a cognac. the most astonishing thing about this rum is how smooth it is. Too smooth. So smooth in fact you can almost forget to taste it. Once you remember to taste this rum however, its indescribable, unlike any rum I've ever tasted.
I'm going to leave my original text in place below, but with my second bottle I feel I have to downgrade RZXO to a still admirable 8, but hardly the 9.5 I felt with my first bottle. Is this a case of an inferior batch? Who knows. My sense though is that the honeymoon is over, and that 40% alcohol content is leaving the palate a bit flat. I agree with noted YouTube dram-reviewer Ralfy (see my comments on Appleton 12) that rum really needs to be bottled at 43% to give it a proper punch and keep the flavors honest. I was much newer to rum tasting when I wrote the review below, and while I still have high praise for the overall flavor of RZXO, it would behoove them to come out with a stronger version (maybe that have one??).
And I was not disappointed. As I wrote in my review of the very solid go-to Mount Gay XO, I had one shot of the Zacapa XO in the summer of 2016. I had never had rum in my life, and I was blown away by the quality. But of course, as time passes, one wonders how accurate one's memory is of an initial experience. Well, I just shared a shot from my first purchased bottle in honor of me and my wife's 20th wedding anniversary. If anything, the depth of character, the duration of the experience, and the breadth of flavors are even more incredible than I recall. I'm not big into labeling the flavor sensations, but the mere fact that you can take one sip and experience a rainbow of taste sensations over a good half a minute to a full minute of time is remarkable for any alcoholic beverage, and should anyone who enjoys . Zacapa XO is simply in a class of its own. I'd love to try other drinks with that level of sophistication. One thing I'll add though is that if this site allowed fractional ratings, I might give a 9.5 since I would prefer a slightly sweeter edge, even though I'm primarily a whiskey drinker and really enjoy Mount Gay XO (as noted above), which is noted for not being overly sweet. But bottom line, this is a very special rum and for special occasions, worth the investment.
Great flavor profile with tobacco, spice vanilla and very smooth. It is dry but a bit too syrupy sweet as well. Otherwise it would be a 10.
Flot farve blød og rund afbalanceret en konge ROM .

It is rich with coffee notes and a little tobacco.

Really enjoyable sipper, managed to get it duty free so not too bad on price but plenty out there half the price or less which are just as good.
