Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

When you drink the Zacapa 23 Solera you know what you get. We are, IMHO, in a similar league than the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, although the Zacapa could be a bit more expensive depending on the country. Definitely worth trying, especially as it is usually easier to find than other similar level rums.
Liked it neat. Lots of taste without being overpowering
Bit tasteless, diplomatico kills it, lacks punch, smooth palette
With virgin sugarcane honey and aged above the clouds, this rum has a distinct dark amber color and really smooth yet aromatic notes.
Best had neat or with one ice cube
Give it a swirl and let the flavours explode in your palate.
Good rum for every day no more. For lovers cognac is what you need
This is with Diplomatico one of the widest known rums and for a lot of people it open the way to premium rums. It could be less sweet and more oaky.
This version of Zacapa is like the Sony of sipping rum. Its not the highest end but it is solid and won't disappoint. Have it the rocks, a little water or neat. Love pairing the 23 witha maduro cigar.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Got this as a gift. Label is deceiving like other people have pointed out. Not aged 23 yr
Too sweet for my tastes. Like to drink good rums straight or on ice. Kinda gave me a headache. Friends who bought it really like it
Not sure about the other additives They added,
Have to try other zacapa rums
