Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

A sweet rum smooth as they come nice in coffee and hot chocolate or just to sip. Zacapa 23 solera has fruity note's and sweet right through to the finish not as sweet as some I've had, 'diplomatico' for one but definitely worth a try.
Moyennement doux. Un goût d'alcool un peu trop prononcé à mon goût.
This is an easy to drink rum for sure. I personally find it a little sweet and thick on the palette, but not more so than many South American rums. I drink this on the rocks or with a cerveza, but do not enjoy it "stand alone".
Tres bon rhum l'un de mes préférés. C'est un rhum que je renouvelle quand la bouteille arrive à la fin.
A splendid aromatic profile, dominated by aromas of raisins, apricots, vanilla, oak, nutmeg, tobacco leaves, coffee, ginger and cinnamon, with a viscosity rarely encountered in a mature assortment.
You can taste the sweetness and it screams molasses.
Definition rom, om man ska börja och få en helhet så är Zacapa 23 den som först hos mig, bra smak, stark, inte för söt och bra avslutning. Funkar alltid.
tasty rum to enjoy with friends
you can't do anything wrong with this rum
everyone will like it because of its sweet aftertaste.
I believe that this is a fairly well-balanced rum. I didn't find it overly sweet and the oak gave a delightful bite. The aroma of cane reminds me of freshly cut cane. Very smooth finish.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.
