Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Sorry but I don’t know why this rum is so much expensive. Too much alcohol is feeling.
As first i feel a bit disappointed. This rum have high notes, and worst opinion said, it is too sweet...
it is not sweet at all. It is dry rum, but it is really smooth. Nose can feel few things - fruits, sweeties, vanilla and a bit of alcohol. There is some special tabac taste on tongue, there is barrel taste, a little cherry at finish. Sometimes u can catch coffee taste. Finish is Not long enough. Maybe thats why you need another glass :) I guess there is too much of 6 years old rum inside, because balance are changing after 3 glass. It needs more vol. like 43% or sth. In general i do recommend this rum, because this is good choice for all labels at this price. This will be tasty for most people.
for me one of the top rums I have had so far, newetherless this became the go to rum brand in my region.
Great taste, smooth, well priced, a favorite amongst my friends.

Without a doubt one of the best blended and flavorful rums in the world, would classify it with Pyrat rum as my two favorite and this is coming from a person who’s tasted the best from around the world
Good rum, good taste, a little expensive compared to Diplomatico
Not very sweet which is strange as I've heard they add sugar. For this very reason, editing my review from 8 to 6. Reminds me of whisky. Some complexity in the flavor, seems a bit sour to me. Flavor: predominantly wood, some caramel. Nose: wood, vanilla
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
