Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Den här är väldigt god och slinker alltid ner snabbt
I tried this rum a few years back before I new rum could be really good. It was smooth, sweet, complex, and made me happy happy.
Smooth and neat rum with rastes of vanilla and honey.
Something that is needed at home
soft, warm and enveloping rum, enriched with sweet notes of almonds, vanilla and dried fruit
I’m talking about the rum you perves. lol
Seriously though, it’s a very smooth rum. Bit of a sweet taste. Recommend you use cold rocks to cool, so you don’t water it down. Cheers mates!
Very sweet herb filled taste with a nice aftertaste that lasts for a long time. Would recommend to give as a present to someone who appreciates a fine rum.
Good for taste beginning...i like this Rum.........
Zacapa 23 Solera. Offered @ $70-80 CAD.
The robe is amber, golden brown, clean legs/tears forming post swirling. 8/10
The nose is sweet, brown sugar, cocoa, caramel, vanilla and just a touch of citrus. 16/20
The palate is very sweet from the lips down to the palate, caramel, molasses, toffee, a hint of vanilla ending with citrus tannin. 31/40
The afterburn is mellow and again you still taste the sweetness, a very faint trace of alcohol present but so light it's barely there. No burn what so ever. 21/30
Total score combined 76/100 Rounded to 8/10 rating

Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Ron Zacapa 23
It's been done to death and we've all tried it so I will try to keep this short and sweet.
This rum is the rum that you recommend to people who are new to premium/semi premium rums.
It is on the sweet side but its got a decent amount of depth, flavour and spice and developing complexity to it. I enjoy taking a bottle of this to parties where I know people will put just a wee bit of effort into making nice drinks with nice ingredients or if I want to buy someone a nice gift or if I am gonna get a wee bit on the smashed side but will be with good mates doing it properly.
It's a decent rum, my biggest beef with this rum (or brand) is that they have been continuously pushing the price up and its starting to get to the price point they are frankly head to heading with rums which are genuinely premiums and they have no business competing with.
A bottle of this should never cost more than 90 or 100 dollars AUD/NZ past that and they are taking the piss and I as a consumer will skip over them.
