Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

A very nice smooth Solera rum, fairly priced and available in many establishments I frequent such as Cuba 8 Art Museum and Enteraintment Center, Guantanamera Cigar Lounge and Ball & Chain Jazz & Salsa Lounge in Little Havana, Miami, Florida.
Heeft een mooie smaak maar een scherpe afdronk. Geniet niet mijn voorkeur.
Super ron! Suave y con aroma a canela. Zacapa no decepciona
It's a great tasty, vanile and easy to drink. Good with cigars and coffe.
Was the first Solera rum I had, its a OK sipper, quite nice with a bit of ice and drinks well with a mix.
Its mild on the nose with a pleasant aroma with a medium lasting linger. I really cant get a clear taste from the rum, apart from its fruity for me.
Only giving a 5 as the combination of expensive per bottle, with not a clear flavour means for price there are much better rums at a lesser price
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera saņēmu kā dāvanu. Lielisks rums, bet noteikti nebūs manā Top3
Seems like this Solera blend ended up with mostly “green”, young rums and not very much from the older, mellowed variety. Mixing with pineapple juice couldn’t even cover up the flavor. I won’t buy it again.
On a positive note, l do like the bottle.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Smells absolutely beautiful! Nutty, caramel, sweet and a hint of weed, oh wait that's from the neighbor next door! Almost has a hint of citrus. I love this rum, def one of my favorites. Sweet, but not Bumbu sweet, smooth but has a bit of a bite on the finish. Pleasant aftertaste, maybe too pleasant since the last sip in the glass beckons me to fill the glass again! Enough alcohol to not leave a heavy oily mouth feel, leaves a nice mouth numbness.
