Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Dissapointing finish after a nice start, nice sweetness but then lacking any finish of substance. Tasted a little bit false like a fake rum! Maybe a good entry level or pub grade end of night mouth swill but definitely not unpleasant.
The sweetness pops up at the start but is followed by really delicate and complex flavors. Also this an easy rum - not too alcoholic - so a great way too start!
great rum for sipping or mixing Zacapa has yet to let me down one of my favorites!
Fair value for Money paid. Little Bit Sweet at the begining
A sold sipping rum, if you like them sweet - like Zaya - but Diplomatico is far better, and much more nuanced.
My go too rum for everyday consumption. Great high quality taste at a reasonable price. Always a hit at parties and get toguethers. Friends always complement me on the high quality of this rum.
Great for sipping with ice or for mixing.
You can't go wrong with this one.
Bought this bottle on 22/12/2016 in AH for apprx. 46€
Very easy rum. Nice flavours and caramel color. I like it.
Very smooth and some nice flavours but a little disappointing given the price
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Can't understand people who review this rum poorly. It really is fantastic. Just try it. You won't be disappointed. Lovely to sip on its own. Doesn't need anything added
