Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

This rum, with just one ice cube, is truly a blessing to enjoy. Smooth, light, yet some bite, this rum is the perfect way to begin and end your evening.
Mixed feelings with this rum. Too good for a mix too bad just to sip.
Smooth rum, also nice (don't kill me) with a little bit of coke (cola).
Lekker puur, weinig scherpe kantjes, een vleugje honing en misschien zelfs een hint van chocolade op het eind.
Ook met cole verliest hij weinig van zijn karakter
I tried this one with coke zero and it seemed alright, tried it neet and it had some bite. For less money I could enjoy a nice El Dorado. I will keep sampling!
Good rum. Amber color. Nice sipping flavours. Spicy
As a relatively new Rum drinker I don't have a lot of experience when it comes to this, but, this is still my favorite drink.
Full-bodie rum, really smooth to the palate. Perhaps even too sweet because of the honey backtaste but that's a personal taste matter! Eat a piece of dark chocolate before, you'll appreciate even more!
This rum is excellent to sip slowly after diner with dark chocolate. It smells caramel. It invites you to the glass.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Synes ikke at den er så god som de anmeldelser der står bag. Jeg er begyndt at bruge det til cocktails.
