Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Til prisen er det ikke dårligt. Den rammer dog ikke helt rent på mine smagsløg. Den skal stå åg dampe af et kvarter eller mere for den bedste oplevelse.
The labeling is deceptive, as the actual product contains a varying amount of 23-year rum, with the bulk consisting of younger rums. However, this one is smooth enough to sip neat, perhaps an it cloying at times, but opens up nicely with a splash of water. Pair it with an Alec Bradley or Curly Head Fuente for a nice evening.
One of the more expensive rums that I had a chance to taste but I wasn't dissapointed. But I would say that there are rums which are cheaper and are similar quality as Zacapa.
a bit vanilia , a bit dark, i like it, and i would like to taste the XO
Drank on the rocks.
Lovely taste, was sweet and went down very easily. I was drinking this in a bar, however for £40 a bottle, it's a very good price for what you get!
Huge nose and flavor profile. Sweet and bourbony. Slight maple. A tad sweet for my tastes, and not as smooth as you would hope for 23 years (the younger drops do come through). Yet perfectly enjoyable, and a modest value. A top-notch sipper for the novice rum aficionado, and still appreciated by many, more seasoned connoisseurs. Great for dessert, or use in an Old Fashioned.
7+
Easy drinking, good quality rum. Got this as a gift and liked it from the first sip
I really like the smell of this one, for a beginner like myself i did'nt found it that sweet like many other people said . Sure i taste the sugar but not that bad and i still feel the burn but not so much that i can't stand it. Overall i like this bottle but it's not the best of the best.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

I like this rum, but when I found out the price (received it as a Christmas present) I was a bit surprised.
Very rich, deep taste and it is smooth to the bottom of the glass.
But for the money I thought it would have been better.
