Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

very good for sipping, sweet enough, need to acquire hole bottle to make final decision
My first solera rum and man, they know what they're doing. Incredible rum.
Fine rum with honey tones but a bit sharp moment at the end. Aroma is nice, bit sweeter than taste itself but decent.
Good for sipping, the aroma was engaging, the taste a bit too short lasting for my taste, but all in all a pleasant experience.
I have a hard time placing this one. This rum is somewhat similar in profile to Pampero aniversario. Similar burnt wood notes and flavor depth but not as sweet. Zacapa also hits some earthy notes similar to JM VSOP but not as bold in this sense as agricoles are. At the beginning I said I have a hard time placing it, but I can tell you that I sure enjoy the flavor.
It's sweeter than other rums, anyway very enjoyable for beginners or tasters that like the sweet-like sensation.. good Ron
En klassiker og den første -rigtige- rom jeg smagte (i ædru tilstand)
Decent rum, but not all that great as pumped up too be.
Igen en god begynder rom, kan sagtens drikkes ren, og er også god i drinks
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Incredibly smooth. Hints of chocolate, vanilla. Not harsh entering or on the finish. I've had many rums and this one is still by far the best.
