Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

This is my favorite rum and the rum that helped me explore beyond rum-based cocktails. I enjoy it neat with a touch of cold water or with a cube of ice. It's very nice on the nose and the sweetness makes it an easy sipper.
Lovely smooth tasting rum, didn't need to drown it with coke. Will get a bottle one day, not a cheap one though, this is premium rum
Great rum, but for this money I'll take something more interesting. Price for this rum is little bit high and reason is popular name, brand.
But if you collecting rum, you must have this one in your collection for sure.
This Zacapa rum is dark brown amber color sets the tone for an exciting drinking experience. Well-rounded oak aroma speaks of aging and refinement. On the palate, layer upon layer of flavors including nutmeg, toasted hazelnut and a hint of caramel. Smooth finish, with a long aromatic persistence. Enjoyed best neat.
Verdens Bedste Rom.
Had this as part of a rum flight and part of a run tasting class. I really liked it, but I am just getting started. It was very smooth, full of flavor.
It's very drinkable, has a slight initial spiciness, which I like, followed by a slightly sweet & oily aftertaste, which I'm not so keen on. Probably one of the better rums more commonly found in bars.
I used to drive 4 hours to RI to buy it, I recommended it to a liquor store in Long Island, NY and now a lot of places have it. Nothing needs to be changed, smooth, taste delicious!
My first review. This rum has a great taste, hints of caramel, without the chemical after taste of inferior brands. Great mixed or sipping neat.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Moi qui aime le rhum avec une note de vanille, j'attendais beucoup de ce Rhum.
Il est bon mais les saveurs de caramel et cacao sont plus prononcées
