Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

pretty sweet and not that heavy or complex. It's not my favorite but it's up there
Een rum met een interessant verhaal betreft zijn rijping in 'The House Above The Clouds' ...
Awesome dessert! Soft, sweet (almost too sweet, actually...). Caramel, some vanilla, brown sugar. Love it!
I was able to find this at a handful of bars and restaurants. It has a nice smooth taste a little spicy but on the rocks its as good as you will get before spending $100+
Smooth and delicious. Unless I'm having a mixed drink (which is rare and in which case I wouldn't use this rum) this is my go to rum served neat in a brandy snifter. Maybe on a hot night outside with a cigar I'll drink on the rocks but then it must be done quickly so as not to let the ice ruin it.
You going out to a friends, and need to stop by the store to pick up a great bottle of rum. Odds are this one is sitting their on the shelf. I have seen this bottle in Louisiana (New Orleans, Covington, Slidel, and Hammond), Florida (Sandestin, Panama, Miami, and Tallahassee) , Tennessee (Memphis, Nashville, and, Paris) and Montana (Bozemen) and just about ever liquor store has this wonderful bottle on the shelf. This rum has tons of sweet flavors that take your mouth on a tor of Guatemalan flavor. Now, this rum is by no means the best bottle on the shelf, but odds are, its the best bottle on the shelf at every liquor store in town. With how this rum tastes it is closer to a 7/10 or 7.5/10, but I give it the 8/10 just on the fact that I can find this bottle everywhere. Tastes best straight in small sips.
The taste is verry good. One of the best ron. It's a must have.
I liked it neat but nowadays I only use it for a really good Cuba Libre
En god duft at træ, jeg kunne dog godt bruge noget mere sødme.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
