Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Min alder gør at jeg blot kender historierne om Zacapa og deres indtræden på markedet. Jeg er imod de her regler, hvor man kan nøjes med en teske 23 års rom, og så kalde det en 23 års solera. Faktum er at rommen er min foretrukne I ET GLAS COLA. Her er den dog også fantastisk.
Efter sigende ikke den rigtige som blev kåret som verdens bedste rom. Lidt sprittet men stadigvæk en dejlig nydelse.
Au risque de déplaire, ce rhum est bon mais un peu surfait. Par contre en daiquiri avec un sirop au safran et la... le bonheur...

This rum is smooth with a soft and round flavor, it is great to drink pure.

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

This rum works as a standard dark rum, for cocktails for me. Nothing more, nothing less.
