Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Very smooth aroma, a bit sweet. Yet one of my favorites. Great for sipping.
A great nose - hints of caramel and bourbon. Not too sweet. Neat or with a few rocks makes a great sipping potion.
Sweet, and smooth. With spice, vanilla and caramel flavors. It is a solera however so it is a little deceiving to say that is is a 23 year old rum. It is actually a mix with the oldest being 23 and the average being much less than that. It is still a great rum however, and with a single ice cube makes a good sipper.
My father is a scotch drinker almost exclusively and he really loved this and has stated that he would recommend this to anyone who just started drinking rum and enjoys scotch.

This rum is very good but falls short of great. Not as smooth as other rums in it price range $80 Can.
Za mě zatím nejlepší rum. 9 dávám jen proto, že předpokládám i lepší kousky ve vyšších cenových relacích.
Silně přeceňovaný (díky kvalitní reklamě). Nepřišel mi o nic lepší, než hypermarketová 15letá verze, ba dokonce naopak. Chutnější varianty budou snad ukryty v XO lahvích na kolínskou v řádu 2-10 tisíc Kč.
Po všech stránkách průměrný a zbytečně drahý výrobek; slaměné kolečko (navíc většinou špatně přilepené) celkový dojem už nijak nevytrhne.

nice and solid Ron, smooth and sweet taste. Here you can't go wrong.

Great rum. Smooth. Great flavor not too sweet. It really is a great choice. Dark color a little smoky a little sweet.
