Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Ron Zacapa har jo tidligere vundet mange priser for bedste rom. Jeg har efterhånden fået den nogle gange og var også en af de aller første. En udemærket rom, men så heller ikke bedre. Mange derude også i samme prisniveau der er bedre i min optik.
We had 2 bottles on the table and a reason to celebrate. The rum has a beautiful smell. Unfortunately, I can't recollect more characteristics. Need to do degustation one day again.
Very easy to sip. Could easily go through a few glasses of an afternoon.

I will admit some may find this overly sweet. The virgin sugar cane used is very apparent in the nose and mouth feel. Overall I thoroughly enjoy this rum and find it to be extremely well balanced.

Un rom foarte bun pentru adepţii gustului dulce. Gustul este unul pregnant care rezista multa vreme. Aroma este de cafea si caramel. Culoarea ca de chihlimbar te imbie sa revii la acest rom.
This is the first sipping rum I ever drank- I'd heard it was good. Only on reflection, having drunk others since, have I realised how good. The flavour is moderated, not too full on, but still complex.
Actually quite dry and oaky.

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Je suis sans doute trompé par sa réputation que j'estime assez surfaite. De la vanille, du sucre... forcément c'est assez doux, quoiqu'il se révèle assez raide sur la fin. Même si j'ai apprécié la dégustation (vraiment sans aucune surprise), j'estime que le prix n'est pas justifié.
