Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

I was amazed at the beginning. It is not bad rum, just there are much better rums. This one is annoying after some time.
For me this Rum is among one of the best to start the personal Rum adventure.
Great nose and legs. Playful on the tongue. I'd drink it again.
I really start enjoying this rum after I had more complex rum. I have to say it still has one of the hardest starts to Rum that I have ever tasted straight alcohol. But after you let it sit and breathe enjoy the complexity and finish of this rum. Still not my first choice but it moves up every time I drink it....I hope you enjoy
My second favourite rum for daily sipping (after Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva), relatively sweet. Full flavour. Very good starter for people who are not used to drink rums. 1l bottles for acceptable price.
The taste is different from any rum I have experienced so far. Very complex taste and a hint of smoke flavor.
This is a nice rum for enjoying neat or with a bit of water added. I enjoyed the flavors too much to add any ice.
Another great sipping rum.
Probably most widespread rum in Czech Rep (may be as Diplomatico RE). There is nothing special in this rum, but it doesn't mean i don't like it. Everything about this rum was probably written here.
Este ron que presume de ser un líquido sacado directamente de la caña de azúcar no engaña a mi paladar...melaza como todos los demás rones caribeños. Sobrevalorado.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It's strong but mild in the same moment. I know it's a commercial product but comparison of price and taste gives me 8 - maybe even more
