Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

J ai voulu tester celui ci car il est plébiscité.
J ai été un peu déçu car je préfère les rhum un peu plus sucré type diplomatico ou millonario.
Il reste néanmoins très bon.
It's very much liquor taste in it which is not my favorite.
Ideal sipper from Guatemala especially for those who don't want to spend the money on their superb XO rum. Nice bottle presentation containing a smooth, flavorful and complex rum indicative of the Zacapa line of rums.
I understand why some people may not like this as a true Rum. Put that aside and drink it for what it is. If you put it on ice and had no idea what it was, you would probably say "wow". Smooth, flavourful, and a tax sweet. Cut it with ice and your good to go.
I bought this as a step up for this special occasions and when I want something for my coke. I really like the sweeter taste not harsh to it at all.
Maybe just not my style...but taste is not to deep, colour is ok...aroma nothing special...I don't see anything very good there...maybe nice bottle.
Round taste, smooth, very well balanced. One of the best in my opinion.
Looks and tastes like a great rum, alcohol balanced by the beautiful sweetness rum can bring. Perfect for sipping neat.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Compared to Diplomatico this one is my favourite. Definitely want to try another Rums from Zacapa.
