Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

People go nuts for this bottle, I think it's decent but not the best I've ever had by a longshot. Definitely enjoyable though.
God smag samt eftersmag. Er altid et hit når den bliver serveret.
Min standardrom tillsammans med Diplomatico. Riktigt bra rom både som ett komplement till en stark kaffe eller för sig själv en bra kväll.
this zacapa is part of mt bar, good stronger taste with always sharp end
Look this is the Grey Goose of rum. It looks amazing and has a big budget and great marketing team around, and gives the wannabe high end flash peoples ego a boost when they know other people can see them drinking it and relate them to "luxury".
But for the price, this rum is only ok. I enjoyed it, but I've had better for cheaper and was underwhelmed to be perfectly honest.
Not much to say that havent been said. A fantastic rum. In every way.
Woody, smoked, roasted cashew nuts and sweetness of dried apricot. Could be on the sweet side but thanks to smokey aroma, it tends to blend them pretty well as one.
Smokey Tobacco on the palate and sweetness of an unripe cherry, sour yet sweet at the same time.
Medium finishing with lots of baking spices, tobacco and milk chocolate flavor towards the very end.
The hype around Zacapa lowers the quality. I've had some really nice bottles and some on a poor level. Is it possible to raise the production that much with a 23 years aged rum? In my eyes: NO
Un nez boisé, une attaque caramel et une bonne longueur en bouche.
Pour les amateurs de rhum rond.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.
