Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

This is a pleasure to sip. Presents itself like a whiskey/rum hybrid with a great balance of smoke and sweet. Not too caramelly. Definitely one to check out
This rhum is a classic one and tasting it was a great moment : great amber color, vanilla and caramel on the palate during the tasting...
Nevertheless, I had some deception because I expected better for a 23 years old rhum (it's actual average age should un fact be more 6 years thanks 23 years...).
Sharp initially, full body, long finish. Very nice apretif!! Clearly a good rum.
More bite but not as smooths as 1919. Still my fav.

Really nice soft flavoured rum. One of my favourites.
This is a great rum for sipping and for cocktails. It has a smooth finish with lots of depth. Vanilla and coffee notes to the taste. My favorite is putting it in an old fashioned with Angostura bitters and demarara syrup. So amazing!!!
Zacapa 23yo is very sweet. The age on the bottle (23) is very misleading.
Very sweet with nice taste, perfect for all who likes very sweet rums, like El Dorado 12yo
Actually quite dry and oaky.

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

I am pleased with this nice sipping rum. A strong sweet flavor to it, not to long finish, and overall descent rum. I must it does taste like a younger rum then i would had expected. Overall, i am satisfied with this rum.
