Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

This is good stuff. The best is that one can find it everywhere. A decent sipping rum, nice sweetness and full aroma. The only thing is... it is not very special, but Zacapa does not need to be special.

Has a nice smell to it, does not taste like a rum that is super sweet. You know the ones, the ones that taste like syrup. This rum tastes like real rum. Simply the best Cuba libre I’ve ever had. It is a little pricey but I tell you, you will not regret it.

from the second you taste this rum you know you have made a good decision; the alcohol wont sting you and you will taste some woodsy chocolate notes, nothing better in a cool fall night.

This is a classy smooth, bit sweet but strong enough for any kind of evening. My most favourite rum

After trying all the other rums on my cruise I decided to splurge and buy outside my plan. This was better than any other rum on the boat. I tried Maybe 4 other rums including Pussers and Pyrat and this blew them out of the water. I like sweet rums with the vanilla flavor and suppose the purists don’t want that, but I want a rum I can drink neat and not have that cloying banana (?) flavor that’s so pronounced in jamaican rum. And pyrat and pussers. If you like Zaya you will like this. Guess I should have said that first. It’s a little drier than Zaya but I like it

Fantastic benchmark for good quality rum. Not to mixed with anything but ice.
