Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

A nice and sweet rum. A good rum for beginners to start with. Know a lot of non rum drinkers who really enjoyed this.
It helped me open my rum taste. Emotionally bonded
As an occasional bourbon drinker, I love smooth, smoky and sweet. Ron Zacapa delivers all of these in massive amounts.
Easy to drink and so good it will make you stop drinking all other brown liquors.
Nice Ron if you want drink in the rocks or with soda and cola
Since I started my adventures in rum, people kept telling me I should absolutely taste Zacapa 23 Solera. So, eventually I did. Not bad, kinda sweet, smokey with hints of oak and nuts. But not my favorite, no sir. Seems my journey in the search of the one, the best one is not over yet...
RZ23 is a bit sweet for my tastes when compared to other favorites, but that doesn't stop it from being an easy and enjoyable drinker. It's not going to blow you away with complex flavors, but it's not going to make many enemies, either. Vanilla and brown sugar.
Vanilla and caramel. Smooth. Easily one of the better Ron’s
Discovered in a French restaurant, very expensive 12€ for a glass but great taste.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Zacapa solera 23 is the first rum since i’m started to drink rum. It’s one of my favorites, but it is quite expensive. There are also XO bottles for cheaper prices.
