Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Un rhum tres doux et sucré avec des notes de caramel et vanille.
Tres agréable mais manque légèrement de caractere pour moi pour etre dans les meilleurs goûtés.

Not bad at all but lacks the smoothnes and character of some of the other rums in this price range. I would simply expect a bit more from a 23y solera rum.

Smells good, tastes good, just perfect! very sweet and a little spicy. Vanilla, toffee, sherry, apricots, bananas and pineapple. Nice long, sweet, spicy, tobacco soaked finish.

After reading many reviews on this highly rated rum and knowing that my taste buds probably would not like it, I bought a bottle anyway. At $40 and tasting like syrup with some alcohol, I would only use it as a mixer, but will never buy another bottle. All I can taste and smell is caramel sweetness with minimal alcohol bite.

What first came to mind was comparing it to the Kirk & Sweeney 12, but that one is so much better and a LOT cheaper. If you also wasted money on this bottle, it will best be saved for visitors who like to mooch your good stuff. Let them have a few sips of this and it will offend no one. But those in the know are not fooled by this over priced mixer. Hey, I had to find out for myself and don't regret buying it, but never again.

All of these fancy rum marketing schemes only prove that fools and their money will soon part. I am now all too wary of any rum priced at over $50.

Este es un ron que no tiene pierde. Pareciera haberse hecho para que le guste a todo el mundo, lo cual lo hace poco especial, casi una golosina, lo que hace fácil disfrutarlo pero deja espacio para sabores más complejos.

Warm, sweet and a tad spicy. A good rum with a mild taste at the start spreding to fill the mouth and throat with a smooth spicy aftertaste with notes of oak.

Farbe: 6 aus 10
Süße: ok
Geschmack: leer d.h. 2 aus 10
Große Erwartungen die nicht erfüllt werden. Für mich ein Rum bei dem nur die leere Schärfe in Erinnerung bleibt.
