Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

top of the line, beautiful clear gold color, caramel and oak aromas flow out from this 23 years aging solera....nice experience sipping zacapa with friends who value smooth aged rum and quality Cohiba cigars
Lacks character, expected more individuality from 23.
This cost me around £60 from a cracking little wine shop in Northampton called "The Wine Connection". The gentleman in there knows his rum and gave me way more free samples than I really should have accepted in such a short space of time. Glad I did, though, LOL!
Of the selection he had in stock, this was one of the ones I have thought about buying.
I fancied trying this one, because I enjoyed the bottle of Ron Zacapa Centenario XO I had a couple of months ago.
The XO cost me £30 more at around £90 from Amazon ... to be honest, I think it was better value.
It is more sophisticated and more mature, with better balance and overall a lot more interesting. for only 50% more money.
Very tasty rum for both sipping and mixing. Used in rum old fashioned.
Definitely nothing to hate on. I think it's not as sweet as some have stated. I was pleased and will definitely buy another bottle.
Good choice. Typical taste of rum. Nothing to suprise you, but nice and srtandard taste. Solera method. Good choice. Full and long mouth. Sweet but strong. Oak
Suave .mucho cuerpo realmente algo para disfrutar.
Great rum for an normal day. Not very very smooth but nice enough to enjoy very much.
Overpriced and overhyped. Decent, but much prefer Diplomatico.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

It’s a good aged rum. Sweet with nice spice to balance.
Good for a sip and mixes great BUT!
Others that cost less may be better and too expensive to mix daily.....
