Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Very smooth and tasty rum. Probably one of the best rums its price range.
Good spices. Cinnamon and others. Not much of vanilla. Not much of a sweetness. But still very smooth and enjoyable. But... kirk and sweeney 18 is still the best I have tried so far.
Make an old fashioned with this particular rum. You won’t regret it!
I see that this rum might be one of the better ones, but for me, it was not that exceptional. Nothing bad to say about this one either, though.
Good enough to stand in when the great ones aren't available. Overpriced, wait for a deal... like a big discount at a duty free.
I enjoy a lot this one.
Not a sweet rum. Good flavors and complexity. Have a lot sherry taste and good finish.
Nice with a cigar.
Very expensive in my opinion.
Alot of people bashing this for being too sweet with additives. Nonetheless it is tasty, and not as sweet as Zaya. I like it for a sipper. The 23 label is misleading as well.
I received this as a gift and really enjoy it, it reminds me of Diplomatico, sweet and sippable, great on the rocks. I think most people would enjoy it if they like Ron Centenario or Diplomatico. If you are into rums with more character like Hamilton or Foursqare you might not love this, but I enjoy both genres. It has a sweet flavor with caramel-molasses, ripe fruit and raisin and baking spices. Short finish with some heat.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Sugar, sugar and sugar. Thats what this rum is. A bit of 23yo rum for audience, rest mix of much younger ones. Did I mentioned sugar? Yes, there is a lot of it inside. You get sweet, pretty smooth rum, but for this price, you can get much better one.
Smell: Vanilla, cane-sugar, toffe
Taste: Sweetness, smooth, caramel, almost no burn.
