Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

taste is good and well balanced. I think a lot of added sugar, made for "mainstream". Missed an own character or something unique that makes it special. For this price you can get way better ones in my opinion.
But...tastes are different

Es uno de mis preferidos, color dorado, muy aromatico, en nariz recuerda el vino dulce y pasas, trago suave y fácil que confirma el dulzor, ligero picor alcoholico en boca poco persistente, para tomar solo en Copa de balón.

Zacapa 23 Solero is a solid choice, but IMHO it's worth saving up for the XO, which is far more interesting on the palate. Both are relatively sweet, so if you're a whiskey lover, I'd say probably don't get the 23 at all. OTOH, if you like your rum sweet, than this is definitely an affordable alternative to the XO. Still, if you can splurge a little, treat yourself to the Zacapa XO. It really is a couple of levels above the Solero as a drinking experience.

As I find with all ron zaccapa rums, is that they are just too sweet. I know that’s ironic. I also can’t support a company that only exports there rum. Outside of high end establishments you’ll never see Ron Zacappa in Guatemala.

Perfect balance. Great color, nose, body, aftertaste. A little bit less sweet than diplomatico ex.reserva. Served always straight.

This is an amazing rum. Complex and loaded with flavor. Perfect sweetness. Perfect everything. i can only rate it a 9 because i don't know if there's anything out there that's better.

A very good rum with a typical aroma. Smooth, but not too sweet. Even somewhat bitter.
