Pyrat XO Reserve

Very good taste. A little bit orange taste, very smooth. The best is with small square of dark chocolate.

Orange/unidentified chemical odor in the nose, more orange and somewhat less of the strange chemical bite in the mouth, decent finish: chemical taste fades to the background quickly, leaving an OK finish overall. The bottle is a thing of beauty though! I'll leave it at that.

It is a very paradoxical drink. Straight over ice as my usual. Hits your nose and lips like a swig of syrup but has a bit of a bite at the throat. I think I love it now but not sure marriage is in the cards.

Extrem viel Orange, ziemlich süß, fast likörartig. Zuviel des Guten. Nicht mein Ding.

Smooth with Little to no burn. Fresh with Taste of orange and Citrus. Too flat for my Taste. Great as present due to nice budda boddle. My grandfathers choice.

This was one of my first runs when venturing into better rums. This is a good rum for both sipping and mixing as the price is fantastic! In my area around $19 a fifth.
Granted, this was much better before Patron bought out the company several years back. When it was still under Plantation rums it was so much better! Would have been a 10.
The nose is heavenly, baking spices, molasses and citrus. On the palette you find the ever present orange(you either enjoy that or you don't.), cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and molasses. Very thin in the mouth and warming. The finish is fair to long and leaves you with a hint of the citrus and spice.
Let me address the orange flavor. It is rather the signature flavor of Pyrat. It runs throughout the product line or did. ( No more Pistol) I find the orange flavor similar to that of the yeast strains used in bourbons. Four Roses has very distinctive yeast strains as does Jim Beam. Jim Beam has one of the most distinctive flavor profiles and it runs through their entire standard product line. So, in essence every product brand has its own signature flavor and Pyrat's is orange.
Overall, this is a good rum. Is there better available, sure. Are they as affordable as this, nope.

Good sipping rum but a little too "heavy" to my liking.

Pas mauvais, quand même bon, mais un peu trop "lourd" à mon goût.

Also dieser Rum geht für mich gar nicht. Ich bin auch Whiskeyfan und da ist mir dieser RUm einfach zu süß, klebrig und aromatisch im Sinne von überbordender Fruchtigkeit...

A nice rum to drink after dinner. Grand Marnier taste if you like that kind of orange flavour.
