Pyrat XO Reserve rum

Pyrat XO Reserve

Multiple | Gold | 40% ABV | Pot Still

Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.

The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

Spécial, très particulier de part son gout d'orange marqué, du coup j' aime bien faire un old fashionned avec surtout si j'ai pas d'orange chez moi ce jour là.

Lovely rum with rich citrus influences. Might come off a bit sharp at first but that dissapears a few glasses later.

This is a very nice sipping rum. Enjoyable, but not exceptional. On the sweet side.

I'm fairly new to the world of rum, and I say this loosely. In my younger days I had plenty of the mixer rums but as of late I enjoy relaxing with a good sipper. I was thoroughly impressed with a bottle of Afrohead that I had picked up at a grocery liquor store in central Florida. The wife and I were slowly running low in that bottle so I decided to pick up a bottle of pyrat xo. I must say after reading the reviews I possibly did not give it ample time to breath. I wasn't thrilled with the taste especially compared to the Afrohead which I compared side by side. My wife on the other hand was mixing Pepsi with her pyrat and she downed 3 which she never does at one sitting. I'm going to attempt another test but I do not have any other rum to test with it. Still ranking Afrohead above it when drinking neat.

Did not read all the comments, but after buying this rum and tasting it, it is somehow in the middle. Not as bad as others mentioned, but also not as good.
It comes with a little nut and buttery nose, in the mouth it is smoth and just a little bite and the end is a bit disappointing, not that what i expected. But try it, make your one mind on the Pyrat XO rum.
Nice bottle, nice hanger ie talisman.

This rum is actually not bad. If you let it stay for a while...

With a higher content of 40 year rum, the Diamond John Dore high ester still really stands out. Not as smooth as the Cask 1623, but a solid offering, and a very nice alternative to "normal" rums.

This is really a very nice rum. You can do much worse when it comes to choice but at the price level for this one, it's well worth it. There are much better more expensive options if your pallet so desires but if it's budget price your in search of this one is just fine in taste, aroma and smoothness.

Really cheap ,sweet but definitively too much focussed on the agrums flavors, specially orange one. I would not consider this Pyrat XO as a Rum but as a liqueur. I'll align this one with the 'Don Papa' Familly.

Very smooth, and as others have said, has a taste of orange and vanilla. For the price point, I really like this rum.
