Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

I tried this one at my neighbors, it smooth and bold at the same time. I would like to add this to my cabinet.
Im Geruch dominiert Alkohol und Orange. Im Mund voller Geschmack nach Orange und Marzipan, sehr süßer Geschmack.
a nice rum in an attractive bottle good for mixin and worth trying.
Had it for the first time, it was very different, very very smooth. ! no complaints.
Its a tasty rum to mix but a bit harsh to sip. It was my first introduction to aged rum and I still buy it from time to time.
Ochutnal jsem jednou a nepřesvědčil mě. Průměrný rum.
Fairly balanced and a decent sipper for the price.
Tres fortes notes d orange. Plaira aux debutants. Pas aussi mauvais qu un don papa mais on nest plus dans le vrai rhum
Pyrat was the first higher end / sipping rum I ever had and I must admit to having been smitten with it... but I think I was naive and just at the start of a journey into rum drinking.
Having now drunk many more rums and had this for a second time, 5 or more years on from the first, I don't have much good to say.
It has strong alcoholic fumes upon first pouring / bringing to the lips and consequently benefits from sitting in the glass a while to let the fumes waft away (this shouldn't be necessary with a good rum). To its credit there are real hints of caramelised fruit, mango, orange and vanilla but I am left asking myself, "how much of the orange and fruit flavours are natural and come from ingredients used at the distilling stage and how much (if any) is added artificially?". Sadly I don't think it's one that I will be buying again.
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"

"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."

A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I drink Bacardi rocks w/ watered down limeaid, just found this at Christmas, brown but not spiced, smelled harsh, took a slow shot expecting throat burn and afterbite, aroma is very deceiving, this rum is smooth, very sippable, no afterburn, bacardi bathtub rum is fine as a mixer, this rum stands on it's own and I will gladly return for more, NJ pinelands rule !!!
