Really enjoyed this one. Not overly sweet, but extremely smooth with a finish better than my Ron Zacapa. I think this is one of the most balanced rums I have tried.
Its a good rum, not too sweet. No brainer for this price!
This rum was very smooth and hints of oak. Was impressed with how balanced the sweet and dryness was with this rum. I enjoyed it glass after glass, and will always keep this gem in the collection.
This is a really good sipper. I like this distillery!
Mount Gay XO shouldn't have surprised me as being a very decent rum. It did not disappoint, once I get another bottle it will sit on the top shelf in the rum room and be brought out when I want a smooth sipping rum;for me, best on the rocks but still good on its own. Enjoy!
Great rum. Drank this in a cocktailbar in Gent, Belgium
Fruity on the nose with overripe banana and spice. A light fruity flavor with hints of dunder and a little warmth. A long finish with a spicy reminder left behind.
Good supermarket rum Β£30 more of a mixer than a sipper but nice nonetheless
Upon opening the bottle you are welcomed to some fruity sweetness when you smell the rum.
Upon tasting it you are welcomed to a very nice complex rum.
Compared to other rums I was missing something, perhaps the added sugar ;-)?
Overall this is a very nice balanced sipper which is well worth the price.
'ripe banana and toast, followed by vanilla, pastry and...'
"Mount Gay Extra Old rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
It is spicy especially on the finish and a little bit short.
"The nose is very fruity. Raisin, prunes and currants with a little banana and some tropical fruits a little pineapple perhaps."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum is top notch. Neat only for me, no plans for mixing. Oak and other flavors up front and nice sweetness to even out the finish.
$50 price tag in my area, when I can find it. I also like the black barrel, but this is worth the extra $20.
