Great color and smell but the taste is a tad harsh. Flavors of vanilla and caramel float throw your mouth but the harsh alcohol aftertaste ruins a great sip. Not bad if you’re looking for a happy hour drink.
Great dark rum. Good for sipping. Very good for the price
Why nice.....wonderful nose, smooth taste, flavor lingers a bit, too notch
This rum is well balanced. Rich aroma with tones of sweet lemon. Taste is also rich and smooth. Tones of toffee and nuts. Strong.. sweet.. just right.! I will definitely get back to this one.
After 5 minutes of opening up, a lovely, smooth yet spicy rum with a maple nose, burnt caramel and brown sugar on the tongue.
It’s not as sweet as the nose would predict.
Sweet a little spicy, yet with slightly bitter coffee notes.
"There is a fair amount of orange peel or marmalade like bitterness, especially on the finish and the aftertaste. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I love Pilar dark, and it is the standard I compare rums to. Yes it is a blend, but who cares. So is a Reese’s peanut butter cup, and who doesn’t like those?
It was my favorite until I visited their store in Key West and they mixed the blond with the dark for me. Now I’m a huge fan of that blend too!!
