I had trouble de deciding on an 8 or a 9 rating. Love this key west favorite. Wonderful aroma and smooth on the palate. I have no problem serving this straight up or on the rocks to my good frinds. Never mix this one.
Maple Syrup, Molasses, Brown Sugar, Caramel... from nose to finish.
Not the cleanest finish, but a fantastic sipper on the rocks.
This is THE rum to pull people in and get them to divorce the obligatory "coke" after the word rum by enjoying this on the rocks.
This rum is a smooth sipper that’s not overly sweet. I enjoy it over a couple cubes. I’ve been trying other rums but always find myself back with Papas Pilar 24 dark as I enjoy my evening…….. ok I’m back one year later….. I’m going to give this rum a 10. For me, this is a very enjoyable rum. Give me a rocks glass , a couple cubes, and some papa pilar 24 dark and I am all set for a very pleasant evening. .
It's got a nice kick like a spiced rum but the vanilla is really something else. This is a really smooth, quality rum for the price tag. The bottle is super pretty as well not that it adds to the flavor but it's nice to hold in the hands and feels badass to pour. So it honors Hemingway well and is a great dark rum.
On the sweeter side but not overly so. Maple flavor is forward but pleasant.
This is my current favorite rum. Smooth feel, great taste, and wonderful aroma.
As soon as you pour this into a glass you're bombarded with the scent of maple syrup. This smell is not deceiving as on first taste, you also get maple syrup. when you start to actually look into it though, there are many other notes such as vanilla and what I think is a sort of carmel banana note.
Though this is a rum, with all of the different barrel aging's and rums used for the solera blend I could almost confuse it for a whisky on first tast.
Had some neat. No burn. Pretty sweet. Might have been my palate for the day but got some maple syrup notes from it. Wouldn’t refuse a nice glass of it. Would like to spend some time with it to give a real assessment. Good price point. I don’t believe the “24” has anything to do with age. May be nice to sip on in Key West while reading some works of Earnest Hemingway to get in the zone with it :)
New to just sipping rums. Sweet. Taste. Maple syrup.
Sweet a little spicy, yet with slightly bitter coffee notes.
"There is a fair amount of orange peel or marmalade like bitterness, especially on the finish and the aftertaste. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

For those that like sweet, this is a terrific rum. It’s a little too sweet for me personally. Strong maple note on the back end. I like it as a nightcap.
