Papas Pilar Dark 24-Year

Papas Pilar Dark is absolutely a great rum. I sip and share it very, very often.
Yes, it has a strong maple aroma and flavor when it hits the palate. I can see exactly how "maple syrup, pancakes, and butter" is a popular description. Yet, that is just where it begins with Papas Pilar Dark. While hosting sprirt sipping expereinces in store and at home, this rum has been described as "one of the most complex beverages I have ever tasted" and "there is so much going on here that I need to wait to see when it stops!" The flavor complexity is not for everyone and there is a sweetness that can turn off some. That is OK. We all are different!
It is a jewel that everyone to try at least once and then factor in the price point and you will make sure this rum is always on your shelf.

I can't get past the maple syrup notes on this rum. Overall it is a decent sipper, but with one strong overtone.

A little spicey and flavored gut great body and good flavor. It is a little pricey for the value but still. Good rum. Really love the presentation. Love the compass top

Very sweet rum, tastes like alcoholic maple syrup. If that's not your thing, avoid this.

Because I prefer a sweeter rums I thought I could like it. After testing small issues emerged.
The shape of bottle makes it difficult to pour.
Nose is sweet and little spicy, slightly on Dr.Pepper side.
Taste is similar, sweet and spicy , but there is tiny notes of different flavours which combinations as a whole make me confused.

Lovely nose. A great sipper at a very reasonable price point. Definitely on my repeat buy list.

I just don’t like the fake sweet tasting maple syrup. There is no way barrel aging can give this sweetness and flavor. Hard to pour without dripping but cool looking bottle. Must be Solara fake aging also.

Nose fills with maple Butter. Vanilla sweet dries fruit

Taste lighter than expected. Sugar cane. Vanilla. Sweet spice finish again with the sugar cane

I read the reviews and was expecting to taste a great rum. Papas Pilar just tastes cheap and fake too me. Extra sugar added, thick and syrupy feel on the mouth. Do yourself a favor and buy Zafra instead

Enjoyed with a couple of rocks. Very smooth and mild. Absolutely zero burn. Very little on the nose and lacking in complexity. However there are hints of chocolate nuts and brown sugar to enjoy. An above average sipper
