Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

When you are a rum drinker, the Kraken Black Spiced can’t be skipped. The producers of this rum gave some extra attention to the beautiful bottle, referring to the sea creature ‘The Kraken’. It has a very, very dark colour and a strong, somewhat overpowering smell of additives: artificial almond extract, cinnamon and vanilla. The first flavour is extremely sweet, with notes of liquorice, almond, cinnamon and after one second a harsh alcohol flavour takes over. The finish is spicy again, and very pleasant. It has a average aftertaste with some spices. Summarizing: not bad, but this is definitely not the best spiced rum you can get!
This was the first rum I ever tasted. Still one of my favorites. I love mixing it with Cokes, or hot apple ciders. It has vanilla, and the baking spices in there. Sweet. Dark. And the bottle is gorgeous. No denying it's all part of it.
Ide o štandardne korenistý rum, ktorý sa skoro ničím nelíši od tých bežných korenených (lacných)
Solid black rum. Not my favorite but a decent sipper when I want something different t
The artificial black color and the synthetic spice flavor don't do it for me. Still, it's drinkable and works fine with Coke. If I wanted to make a spiced black rum, I would take some Gosling's and I would add some spice tinctures to it.
I went into the tasting of this rum with very low expectations. I am not really a fan of spiced rum, but I had to see what all the fuss was about with this rum.
Nose: Heavy on the chocolate with some plain sugar and coffee hidden somewhere
Taste: Vanilla, cinnamon, milky chocolate, honey and ginger with little to no aftertaste
Overall: This was not as bad as expected, but still not a rum, that I would ever drink straight again. It might be harmless mixed with coke going into the late hours of a party, but I think that would be the only use, that I would have for it.
Nothing to write home about. It's ok but not my favorite.
Not the best rum I’ve ever had, but also not the worst. Good for them there’s an NHL team to drive their sales up.
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

U have trouble to say more about this one. Except it is strong. Smell is nice. Something you will drink over winter or on cold ocean. That's someting i would call navy rum.
