Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

Nice rum for mixing. Basic spiced rum, nice flavours, not to sweet.
It’s not as strong as you’d think and has a nice amount of sweetness. However, it’s not a interesting rum. A very basic standard
Basically a Christmas spice liqueur in my opinion. Absolutely no notes of what makes rum, well, rum. Especially disappointing in a rum hailing from the same hallowed soil as Caroni. Trinidad can produce much better.
It's strong! Dark rum at 47% and if u aren't careful the kraken will wreck your ship. It's a boat ride kind a drink. I love it and often it is my daily summer fun drink.
This rum is great for a dark and stormy and not much else, maybe a tiki drink. The spice is nice but a little too syrupy.
Added coloring & sugars and not a very convincing spice flavor, either. But I loved it for years until my rum enthusiast friends gently steered me towards better things. The pirate jug and black coloring is great for parties. Good value too.
Opened this bottle one week before making this TN
Deep intense old dark copper colour, small water edge in the rim.
Funny thing is that the colour seems to vary in the glass when whirling. Colour is not consistant.
Light intensity in the nose with a funky aroma of medicine, marzipan and orange peel.
Strong start on the palate with high alcohol.
Aroma's of marzipan, banana, spices and orange peel.
Not such a long finish
Score: 77/100
Not a bad rum, but it feels a little bit "boosted" to me.
Very pleasant for sipping or as a base for cocktails.
Though not the worst I have tried it is far from the best. If you like a very rich bold dark taste then you might love this rum. I didn't care for it but it was drinkable with ginger ale.
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Meilleur que le Captain Morgan Spiced, excellent avec Coke ou Root Beer, vanille très présente.
