Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

Good to drink on its own, smooth and nicely spiced, but it doesn't have the same wowing bouquet as a Capt Morgan black spice which makes you want to jump into the bottle.
There's a lot of buzz about this one, but then it's readily available and a lot of the better stuff isn't. It also has a cool name, a cool label and an even cooler bottle. Oh and it's a nice colour.
It tastes vaguely of liquorice and caramel, maybe burnt toffee and weak coffee, dark, roasted mollases and vanilla...actually a bit of a hotch-potch which is by no means unpleasant, but not really as pleasing as the best spiced rums. There is not much spice in this as such, just a mixture of sweet and diluted-rich flavours. Rebellion and Red Leg are cheaper and better and Dark Matter, whilst admittedly being a bit hit and miss for most taste buds (so it seems), is if you DO like it, MUCH better. This is kind of syruppy and almost into liqueur territory. It's pleasant enough but not really something you'd buy if you had tried the other stuff.
It does mix well, and yes, I would drink it if there was no much else around. Overall, It's, ahem, ok...that's about it.
Mass market mixing rum. No real depth or character
Kraken had a burnt taste that I could not get past to enjoy the beverage.
Kracken is definitely an acquired taste. It's very sweet but has a lot of flavors going on. Too strong for my palette but would be interesting in a creamy drink.
Introducing rum to your friends is always hard. The kraken is one of the best choice to do so. Perfectly spiced, love it

This is not bad for sipping but great for mixing. Good with dry ginger ale.
Strong taste but smooth.

Pretty much my go to on the weekends. Good bank for you buck that's for sure. I drink it with coke or root beer. Flavor wise I would say its just a good smooth dark rum.
