Kraken Black Spiced

It's a very reasonably priced rhum. However, I'm not a big fan of the flavoured kind. It isn't so much a Rhum one would drink pure, much like black Bacardi. That being said, I do believe it'd make a great rhum & coke.

Krakena jsem zařadil do svého baru po dlouhém přemlouvání a zjistil jsem, že to byla chyba. Měl jsem ho zalistovat o hodně dříve. :-) podmanil si mnoho hostů, kteří chtěli rum jiného ražení, než bylo Legendario a Cortez spiced. Za mě je to jeden z těch lepších černých spicovaných rumů na trhu. Skvělé chuti, krásného příběhu a krásné atypické láhve. Chuť je plná, karamelová s lehkou stopou hořké čokolády a hřebíčku. Není to chuťový drsňák, který by Vám urval hlasivky :-) je lahodný a silný.

Its nothing like the best out there, however it makes for an excellent sipping rum for the occasional everyday evening where a little extra is needed before bedtime.

To me, Kraken is a very straightforward experience. It's approachable, well-priced (in my area anyhow), and has a high ABV at 47%. Not only that, but it's also flexible in the sense that it's fairly enjoyable both straight and mixed. However, there's a catch to Kraken, which is that it's incredibly sweet. So sweet in fact that it has an artificial/unrefined character to it, which carries over into its unpleasant aroma.

I recommend Kraken if you're hanging out with friends, or if you're someone who doesn't care about refinement and all the flavors going on. Also, be sure to add ice cubes when mixing with soda, or else the combination of sweetness will be overwhelming. And on the other end of the spectrum, if you're a rum connoisseur, this rum you can safely avoid.

It's a spiced rum, so don't get too excited, but decent given what it is and tends to be my goto for basic rum cocktails (don't waste good stuff on cocktails or even just with coke !

(edit: downgraded to a 4 as my tasting experiences and palette have developed over time - even allowing for this being aimed purely at cocktails, it's not so great).

I was expecting much more than what I tasted in a dark Kristen. Just not for me.

Never drank Any rum other then Bacardi. This was a revelation to me!

N- Whiff of coal, stony and wood branches on a wet cold day. Cinnamon and caraway, heavy molasses, caramel, chocolate and burnt vanilla sticks. Liquorice cough syrup. (18/25)

P- Diluted coffee with Equal sweetener after adding lot and lots of ice, very sweet scents of fig, beryl's toffee candy. Citrus sides of bitter orange and grand marnier, which are all fine on the fore flavor. Lack width. (17/25)

F- Short, tart orange peel, boiled spices coat with sticky bitter candy. (17/25)

Balanced:- Light body, meant to be hip and easy. However the deadly and stale artificial sweetness are just not my cup of tea. (15/25)

The taste is really chocolately, smooth end taste and really enjoyable
