Gosling's Black Seal rum

Gosling's Black Seal

Bermuda | Dark | 40% ABV

The James Gosling family business first produced Gosling Black Seal rum in 1806, and it is now the oldest surviving business on the island of Burmuda.

Gosling 'Black Seal' rum received it's name from the black wax originally used to seal the bottles. It is Bermuda's most widely exported product and considered the nation's national drink.

Smooth and easy to drink. Less sweet that El dorado 12 year. A good addition to my collection.

A national institution and major export. How does Gosling’s stack up? Well, in fact it’s pretty versatile and is a must with ginger beer. Definitely needed in any respectable rum bar.

For the price you can’t got wrong. Goes nice with cola but even better with ginger ale.

No other rum but Goslings for a dark and stormy. This is the prototype. I like this Rum neat as I’m not a mixed drink person . Neat with a splash of good old H2O makes Goslings a classic Rum it is not especially a great rum but a very good rum. I like Goslings Black Seal as a late night cap because of its exceptional smoothness and flavor. Did I say it is worth the price? Well it IS worth the price.

This is the official rum for mixing Dark and Stormy. It's a good quality rum, but has a strong black licorice note that made it impossible for me to drink neat. It does mix well, with ginger ale or Coke.

Dark and Stormy was actually invented by Goslings. Originating from Bermuda, this rum is made using molasses rather than sugar cane. The taste is rich and treacle-y , it makes a perfect dark and stormy and equally is great to sip over ice. A great dark rum.

Good with cola mixer. Dark treacle with a hint of liquorice. Not great neat to be honest. Sweet, smooth. Good value.

The deep flavour of this rum brings to mind old clipper ships and comfort during dark, stormy nights. Goslings has a sweet taste with a hint of oak. This goes well with ginger beer for a Dark and Stormy. Mmmmm!

This was a very pleasant surprise. For the price ($18 in Las Vegas) I was expecting something along the lines of Myer's or Pusser's (both decent rums though) but this exceeded my expectations. This dark rum is sweet yet not overpowering, and there is a bit of spice on the tongue that helps alleviate the sweetness. This goes great in a Dark N' Stormy and also neat. I figured it would end up strictly being a mixer but this goes great on it's own too. Definitely a new go-to of mine when I just want something simple and sweet to enjoy after dinner without opening up the expensive stuff.

as the title says, this rum is an excellent rum for the price, suprisingly complexe flavours, would'nt recommend as sipper, but mixing, A+
