The James Gosling family business first produced Gosling Black Seal rum in 1806, and it is now the oldest surviving business on the island of Burmuda.
Gosling 'Black Seal' rum received it's name from the black wax originally used to seal the bottles. It is Bermuda's most widely exported product and considered the nation's national drink.

40% ABV. Lots of alcohol on the nose, with caramel, molasses, and artificial aromatics. After a while, the alcohol fades and the molasses dominates. Molasses and vanilla dominate the palate. Short finish.
Tried it with ginger ale for a Dark and Stormy(tm), and it was pretty bleak. Just like the last time I ordered one at a bar. Might be good for baking, but not much else.
6, 6+
Not a standout in any sense, but it's a solid rum. Makes for a good time mixing.
I wasn't expecting to like this rum too much based on my mediocre review of the Gosling's Old Rum. But I think this is a little better than that one.
Smells and tastes of burnt caramel, toffee, butterscotch, spice, and vanilla. It has more overall flavor than the Old Rum. A good rum for the money.
Like many before have said before, best for dark n stormy. Make this cocktail and serve to new drinkers. The rum isnβt so strong that it would scare new drinkers and it still tastes great.
Like to sip it also with some ice, it's a standard rum for a sipper but not bad.
Perfect rum for a nice rumcocktail like a dark 'n stormy.
Goes with Cola light as normal cola gives a strange taste. Didn't tried the dark n stormy yet.
Not a sipper but good mixer...makes a good Dark and stormy.
An average mixing rum just a little bit better than your mass market rums.
Man, this is the best taste out there for the price. And I know I'm not alone in my thinking, after sharing with a couple of friends I have converted them from Rye to Rum
'well balanced and nuanced with butterscotch, vanilla and caramel'
"Goslings Black Seal rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
The nose is very pungent. Heavy thick treacly molasses and sweet caramel.
"Itβs initially sweet like liquorice, there is a little heat and spice in the mix and the finish is long and slightly bitter."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A wonderful rich dark rum full of flavour. Great during the summer evenings relaxing.
