The James Gosling family business first produced Gosling Black Seal rum in 1806, and it is now the oldest surviving business on the island of Burmuda.
Gosling 'Black Seal' rum received it's name from the black wax originally used to seal the bottles. It is Bermuda's most widely exported product and considered the nation's national drink.

Minder mig om Captain Morgan. Ikke hvad jeg vil drikke når jeg vil have et glas rent rom
The Ginger beer you use can make a big difference with this great rum. Ginger beer that is too tangy can take away from the taste of this rum. Has a unique taste that you can recognize as Black Seal.
Can be mixed as well as drank neat. I'll probably use it for mixing as I have better rums for drinking neat.
I have tried others but this, without a doubt is key to the perfect Dark N Stormy
When you dont want to waste a good rum during a normal weekday and just need a shot to take the edge off a stressfull workday. Or to mix it in a rumcocktail dark&stormy.....This rum gives a mean headache the day after
This is my first review and it is our "go-to" Rum, the Rum of the house.
For me, a Rum must be drinkable straight or on the rocks, I prefer on the rocks and sometimes with a twist of lime.
I don't believe that you can make a Dark and Stormy without Gosling's Black Seal (or a Bright and Sunny for that matter - substitute Ginger Ale for Ginger Beer). We also find this the Rum for Egg Nog and Hot Buttered Rum - so we see a bit of it in around Christmas.
On it's own it is more than serviceable. It has a good balanced taste, with and intricate blend of caramel and molasses hints. Some say there is a touch of vanilla flavour, if so not nearly so much as with Zaya (which I shall review later). It is a stronger "rum" flavour than you will find in any "silver" rum I can think of. It stands up quite well to ice and lime. I've tried it in the Cuba Libre, but, to my mind, it's to strong a flavour - but than I fondly remember my Father's Coke and Ron Rico and nothing will ever replace that taste for me, mostly nostalgia I'm afraid.
If someone is looking to try a sipping rum, but not wanting to spend a fortune they could do far worse, though it is, perhaps harsh for a virgin...
Really good mixer. Candy in a glass :) demolished all sorts of this rum. Compare with Bacardi and Morgan.... no comparison. This rum is amazing for the price. Buckle up 3 finger rum and Cokes are way too easy
Dark caramel color with smells of toffee, it has a rich flavor with hints of coffee and cinnamon. There's a hint of sweetness, and just a little burn. Not meant to be a sipper, but but has enough flavor to get there.
'well balanced and nuanced with butterscotch, vanilla and caramel'
"Goslings Black Seal rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
The nose is very pungent. Heavy thick treacly molasses and sweet caramel.
"It’s initially sweet like liquorice, there is a little heat and spice in the mix and the finish is long and slightly bitter."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I really enjoyed this one. Lots of flavour and very little burn. Mixed it with lime juice and brought it to a whole other level. Then tried it with ginger and was really glad I did!
