Nicaragua | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.

Being my first aged rum, I was impressed by the quality and complexity of the flavour. Although I lack a basis of comparison, I enjoyed this rum very much.
Aperitif. Rhum très délicat au parfum léger, peut être un peu de chocolat au retour.
Quite mellow taste, doesn't have the complexity I usually prefer.
Goeie rum, fantastische afdronk.. voor niet te veel geld
Tasty rum, good for bourbon fans because of the oakiness
This is a very good Rum, but not great. It is not to sweet as I expected, but it it is very smooth. You can taste the oak flavors for sure.
It is a rum to sipped slowly, not to drink right away. Ok Rum….. but I need more flavors and uniqueness in a great RUM…
I've seen this stuff as cheap as $35. I think it is a decent deal. I compared this next to El Dorado 12 in the same sitting. 1oz, 2 cubes, swirl and slowly sip. The Flor de Cana is a little more subtle. A bit fruity, and perhaps vanilla, or bubble gum-like. The El Dorado 12 was much more robust with oak and spice with dark sugar. While sipping the Flor de Cana it was reminding me of one of my favorite sippers, which is Kaniche XO and Kaniche Perfeccion. This Flor de Cana is like a less sweet/unsweetened version of Kaniche. As I said in the title everything about this rum in subtle, nothing stands out on its own, but its decent. For the money I may buy again, but doesn't top Kaniche XO as my best sipping rum for the money.
Note: I'm a sipper. My opinion is based on sipping characteristics.
Just like the 12- year El Dorado, 12-year Flor de Caña is something of a cornerstone. It was Anthony Bourdain who introduced me to this rum and it was hell of a struggle to have a contraband bottle delivered to me months later. Drop that ultra premium, sustainably produced crap no one buys and you will end up with a really pleasant sipper in a really nice bottle. And thank God it was just few months later, it finally arrived on the local market and I have had multiple bottles downed ever since, as it became one of my go-to rums.
'smooth and full of fruit and nut flavors'
"Flor de Cana 12-Year rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is very little astringency or “booze” noted in the nose.
"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."
