Nicaragua | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this but it was on my list to try so when I spotted it at a bar, I thought I might as well give it a go.
On the nose there was a bit of acetone, mixed with some caramel. The palate was more caramel but with some apple and woodsy notes, even though the mouthfeel was a bit thin.
Overall, not bad, possibly needed a bit more age or abv to give it another layer (though it has got me interested in the 18 and the 25 for sure).
This is a nice rum, especially if you drink it straight up. I think the ice shaking adds just enough water to make it taste good. Not quite as good as the 18yr, but I have to rate the same because of the price difference.
I can't fault this other than to say there are many far more exciting rums out there. There's no WOW factor but equally nothing bad to say. A sipper for sure, I managed to get a bottle for £20 and I'd certainly but it every week at that price but it's usually £35.
Was better than I was expecting.Caramel bomb, not harsh has a crepping burn after the finish. I will buy another bottle.
Jolie découverte de ce rhum !!
Beau travail de fût pour un rhum tour en douceur.
It's ok, and there's nothing particularly wrong with it, but a relative lack of spice or any differentiating standout notes makes me want something else at this price point.
The massive oak barrel aging sheds have sprinklers in the rafters keeping everything dripping wet. The on site gift shop is 30% cheaper than the local stores. This is a 3rd world country cranking out good Rum. I did the tour in 2017, brought home the legal limit.
Woody and hints of raisins, very nice and not too sweet, good balance
'smooth and full of fruit and nut flavors'
"Flor de Cana 12-Year rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is very little astringency or “booze” noted in the nose.
"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
